About Center for Developing Kids

Center for Developing Kids, Inc. opened April 1, 1995 and is currently owned by AnjaLi Carrasco Koester, OTD, OTR/L and Michaelann Gabriele, OTD, OTR/L.

The original owners, Sue Trautman and Ann Hyde created Center for Developing Kids based on a shared vision of providing quality pediatric therapy services in an environment where children would thrive and families could meet and support each other in their common experiences. Laura Hogan-Reyes carried on this vision as Sue Trautman’s partner from 2003 to 2017.

AnjaLi, Michaelann, and several of the staff are involved in state and national organizations that address both practice and political issues that impact services to families and children with special needs. Center for Developing Kids has academic associations with universities both in the United States and Canada that allow interns to complete fieldwork requirements prior to embarking on their professional careers. In addition, a training program is offered for experienced occupational, physical or speech therapists that wish to advance their skills in sensory integration.

Center for Developing Kids supports and participates in research studies that promote advancement of knowledge in pediatric therapy service provision. Several of the staff have presented at state and national conferences.

Volunteer Opportunities

Center for Developing Kids offers pre-occupational, physical and speech therapy students the opportunity to observe individual therapy sessions, assist with group sessions, and provide clerical and equipment support to treating therapists.

Our volunteers are
– required to commit a minimum of 3 months between 3 and 8 hours per week;
– must be at least 17 years of age and adhere to dress code and confidentiality policies;
– must attend an orientation session and complete all required paperwork prior to volunteering at Center for Developing Kids.

Volunteers gain a wealth of knowledge in pediatrics and their field of interest during their time here.
